Thailand to upgrade T-50TH trainers
The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) is upgrading its T-50TH Golden Eagle trainer jet fleet. Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) won a contract to upgrade 12 T-50THs, according to a filing to South Korea’s stock exchange on 24 May.
This KRW62.3 billion ($56 million) contract involves an ‘upgrade and modification programme’ incorporating radars, radar warning receivers and countermeasures dispenser systems to mitigate hostile threats.
Kim Jo-won, chief executive of KAI, commented, ‘We will prove ourselves worthy of confidence of the Thai air force with outstanding quality and technical skills.’
