TASC bags GPS SE&I contract
TASC, an Engility company, has been awarded a contract for providing systems engineering and integration (SE&I) for the US Air Force's Global Positioning Systems (GPS) Directorate, it was announced on 28 July.
The GPS SE&I contract has a base period of two years and options for up to 6.5 years, with a total value of over $200 million.
Under the contract, TASC will deliver updated versions of the GPS enterprise's technical base line, including the system's operational and user requirements, product and programme information and other related data and configuration specifications.
The company will also provide products for Department of Defense milestone approvals and support processes to ensure the accurate and reliable functionality of GPS. In addition, it will recommend alternatives to enterprise-level changes being considered by the government and provide systems engineering support.
Tony Smeraglinolo, president and CEO, Engility, said: 'GPS provides a worldwide navigational component that is a key piece [of] our nation's critical infrastructure and we are honoured to support its mission.
'This contract adds to our solid base for space and launch work on the West Coast and will enable us to continue developing strong systems engineers and analysts for future capabilities.'
