Sweden starts SATCOM search

The Swedish FMV has put out a request for information about small and medium Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) SATCOM terminals.

This is to inform a new terminal concept called Modular Tactical Transmission Terminals (M3T).

VSATs are two-way satellite ground stations that have a small dish, usually less than 3m and the FMV is looking for them for use in manpack and portable systems for the military tactical SATCOMs.

According to the RFI, they are only willing to look at off-the-shelf non-developmental systems or modified non-development items for use on X-, Ku- and Ka-band satellites with the option to use
