Thales to modernise PR4G radios for Spain
Thales has been awarded a contract by Spain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) to modernise the PR4G radios currently in operation with the Spanish armed forces, the company announced on 19 April.
The modernisation of the PR4G radios is part of the MoD’s effort to move the army to the new SUPERMUX waveform. With the SUPERMUX waveform, the PR4G F@stnet radio provides simultaneous and independent combat voice, data and Blue Force Tracking (BFT) data transmission and provides users with enhanced capability for high priority information dissemination.
The waveform also provides unique automatic BFT sharing capability at radio level between two modernised VHF networks, increasing situational awareness dissemination and avoiding friendly fire.
