SOFIC 2012: C4ISR key to SOC operations
Special Operations Command (SOC) commanders have outlined the importance of C4ISR systems within international SOC operations.
'BICES [Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System] is pretty much the backbone within SOCEUR [SOC Europe],' Maj Gen Michael Repass, USA Commander, SOCEUR, told the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Florida on 22 May.
'You just have to have a baseline system and then you can enter the BICES network. Rather than having a resident in Afghanistan we can enter remotely. This is one of the key enablers of interoperability.'
Repass explained that one of the key challenges to European SOC operations is ISR,
