RUAG Defence has received a contract to provide its Tactical Access Node (TAN) to NATO, the company announced on 22 February.

The order marks the first NATO contract awarded to the company. The TAN will be used by NATO battlegroups.

TAN is an integrated voice and data router that enables interoperable connectivity between core networks and headquarters, detached ad hoc C2 facilities, and tactical mobile networks during multinational operations.

TAN enables seamless radio communications between troops, even though the respective nations may use communication devices made by different manufacturers.
