Pentagon eager to field missile detecting space sensors

With lawmakers waiving the green flag to proceed, top US military leaders are eager to move out with plans to field sensors in space capable of detecting hypersonic and ballistic missiles. 

During a 1 August call, US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) commander USAF Gen John Hyten told reporters he was optimistic about building such a capability while discussing the countries driving the requirement — North Korea, China and Russia. 

'The most important thing to me…is not the interceptor technology. It's the sensor technology,' the four-star general said.

'The first thing that you have to do is see the threat,'
