Kongsberg Maritime bags CCTV system order
Kongsberg Maritime has been chosen by L-3 MAPPS to supply CCTV systems for the Royal Canadian Navy's (RCN's) new class of Harry DeWolf OPVs under the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) programme, it announced on 1 February.
The CCTV system will form a key part of the integrated platform management system and assist in mission critical operations by providing real time video surveillance to the crew. It will also offer increased security, safety and situational awareness.
As part of the contract, Kongsberg Maritime will deliver a set of proven harsh environment CCTV cameras as well as cameras that can meet the demands of an Arctic environment and the RCN, such as a high definition upgraded version of the Kongsberg Maritime Helicopter Operations Surveillance System (HOSS). The HOSS will help in monitoring the landing and take-off of the CH-148 Cyclone naval helicopters that will be supported by the vessels.
Irving Shipbuilding is the prime contractor for providing AOPS vessels as part of the national shipbuilding procurement strategy, and L-3 MAPPS is one of the Tier 1 suppliers to Irving Shipbuilding.
