Babcock nears first customer for Nomad AI translation tool

The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) unveiled a prototype of its new Network Electronic Warfare System (NEWS) to the public at the Fuji Firepower event on 26 July.
The NEWS is currently carried aboard a Toyota Type 73 medium truck. Prime contractor for this project is Mitsubishi Electric.
The Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA) developed the NEWS from 2010-14, and testing was ongoing from 2012-15.
The system gathers and analyses radio waves, as well as jamming enemy networks. The NEWS covers the VHF, UHF, super high-frequency and extremely high-frequency bands.
