Inmarsat and Spectra launch SlingShot VHF
Together Spectra and Inmarsat launched the SlingShot VHF version of the L-band Tactical Satellite (L-TAC) service in London on 4 November.
The two companies developed the L-TAC service and the SlingShot system to provide a reliable, global and secure service for users who need access to beyond line of sight (BLOS) communications from tactical radios.
The VHF device joins the UHF device, which has been operational with NATO countries and Australia since 2013.
‘Traditionally radios like Bowman used by the military are only operational in a line of sight capacity,’ Simon Davies, CEO at Spectra, told Shephard.
