Australia is looking to improve its presence in space with a focus on communications and creating a dedicated segment of its defence forces committed to the domain.
Herley Industries announced today that a major US Prime contractor has awarded Herley New England division a contract valued at approximately $1.5 million for the production of integrated microwave assemblies to be used in the US Navy's P-8A aircraft.
The P-8A Poseidon is the US Navy's newest maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft. It is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations.
Richard F. Poirier, CEO and President, commented, "This is Herley's first production award for the P-8A program, following the successful completion of the development phase. We are pleased to be a part of this important US Navy program, and anticipate receiving follow-on contracts from this prime contractor on this program over the next 15 years.
