Harris receives Philippine Army Falcon order
Harris Corporation will supply Falcon III tactical vehicular radios and intercom systems to the armed forces of the Philippines under an initial order valued at $18 million.
The radios are being acquired by the Philippines as part of a wider programme to modernise the tactical communications capabilities of its land forces.
The contract will see Harris provide the latest Falcon RF-7800V Combat Net Radio integrated into the RF-7800I Intercom Systems to modernise the Light Armoured Division of the Philippine Army, with the in-vehicle voice and data communications solution allowing for secure tactical network connectivity.
Brendan O’Connell, president, international business, Harris RF Communications, said: ‘This order will accelerate tactical radio modernisation for the Philippine Army by providing soldiers with enhanced command and control and situational awareness for real-time decision-making. The embedded encryption will provide secure interoperability with more than 13,000 Harris Falcon radios currently fielded within the AFP.’
