Harris buys CPI Trifold antennas
Harris has purchased 12 4.6m Trifold antennas from Communications & Power Industries (CPI) for use in a US Department of Defense programme. The order, worth over $10 million, was announced on 3 May.
The Trifold antenna can be deployed by a single person in less than 30 minutes. It is designed for use in high-density voice, data and communications networks, and provides high gain and exceptional pattern recognition with a choice of transmit/receive feed assemblies.
The antenna features CPI's sub-reflector tracking (SRT) system and Next-Generation Controller (NGC). The NGC provides a single central device for the operator to control multiple antenna systems. It features remote tracking and access capabilities, redundancy control systems and an internal spectrum analyser.
The SRT enables the antenna to track a satellite to within a 1/1000th of a degree without requiring the main reflector to be removed.
Keith Buckley, president of CPI ASC Signal division, said: 'CPI ASC Signal Division's Trifold antennas will aid in advanced research that aims to increase the navigation and communication operations available to warfighters in-theatre. Their advanced features provide a reliable platform for innovation in military applications.'
