Defence IT 2012: MoD calls for wider secure information sharing
The MoD’s deputy chief information officer (CIO) has called for a ‘single information environment’ allowing the armed forces, industry and government agencies to seamlessly communicate without compromise of existing levels of secrecy.
Speaking at the Defence Information Technology (DIT) conference in Bristol, Brig Mark Baines outlined his vision for ‘secure information sharing’ including ‘Restricted’, ‘Secret’, and ‘Above Secret’ domains.
He described a ‘platform for providing technical secure collaboration solutions and specification at the Restricted level’, capable of improving connections with functions of state including government departments.
