ELTA North America has provided On-The-Move V4 (OTM V4) solution to the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) to meet mobile C-sUAS requirements in the US.
OTM V4 can be integrated with off-road vehicles such as an up-armoured HMMWV (left of picture) or Ford F350 (right of picture).
It implements a multi-sensor, multi-layer architecture that protects against various types of rotary and fixed-wing UAS, ELTA North America announced in an 8 December statement.
In detail, OTM V4 provides detection and tracking via a phased-array, multi-mission 3D radar, classification from fused sensor data and identification through a multi-sensor EO/IR unit capable of tracking and identifying ground and air targets.
Communications are provided by an Android Team Awareness Kit and a private, secure tactical 4G/LTE network for sharing data among dismounted personnel.
Other capabilities include scalable effects mitigation (such as non-kinetic electronic disruption and deterrence); precision RF drone takeover; a safe route/safe land capture system; and kinetic effects provided by computer-aided small arms fire.
Michael Trexler, CTTSO tactical operations government programme manager, said that OTM V4 ‘provides a unique purpose-built tactical operator-driven integrated solution’ for use by small teams. The system will provide ‘dual organic C-sUAS force protection and to enhance situational awareness by identifying and engaging air and ground threats both static and on the move’, he added.
As a next step, operational evaluations by the DoD and Department of Homeland Security will generate performance feedback for CTTSO to digest in 2021.
