BAE delivers 250th F-35 EW suite
BAE Systems has manufactured and delivered the 250th AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare (EW) suite for the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft programme, the company announced on 19 September.
The EW suite is designed to protect the F-35 against current and emerging threats. The suite features defensive and offensive options, providing self-protection, targeting support, and radar warning to detect and defeat airborne and surface threats.
The AN/ASQ-239 EW suite has advanced avionics and sensors that offer a 360-degree real-time view of the battlespace, to maximise detection ranges and provide the pilot with options for threat evasion, engagement, jamming and countering.
BAE Systems is the sole provider of the EW suite for the F-35 and is producing one suite for every aircraft to be manufactured.
