AUSA 2015: Harris develops global handset
The latest iteration of the Harris RO tactical radio will enable worldwide voice communications from one handset device.
Full Operational Capability for the Phase 3 variant of the RO radio is expected in December 2016 following an end user evaluation in April-May by the USMC.
The RO radios were an ITT/Exelis product that has been taken on by Harris following the acquisition of Exelis.
Speaking to Shephard at the AUSA exhibition, a spokesperson for Harris said that the USMC was the driving force behind this development effort as the company is working under an $8 million contract for the global
