Poland will acquire 5th-generation fighter jets
The Polish MoD has announced its intention to acquire a number of 5th-generation fighter jets and gradually phase out legacy Soviet-era fighters and bombers.
Under the updated Technical Modernisation Plan for the period 2017-26, Warsaw will launch a new procurement programme, Harpia, which calls for the acquisition of at least 32 fighter jets.
‘I expect the chief of the general staff, as well as the head of the Armament Inspectorate, to immediately take actions necessary to finalise this project,' said Mariusz Blaszczak, Minister of Defence, during a ceremony in February.
