Opinion: Did new UK budget address defence concerns?
The UK’s Chancellor, Phillip Hammond, has delivered his budget to the country and announced additional funding for the Ministry of Defence. Over the next two financial years, there will be an additional £1 billion ($1.3 billion) of funding (£200 million in 2018 and £800 million in 2019) to support the armed forces. The funds will be reportedly prioritised for the Dreadnought programme (new SSBN), ASW capability and cyber defence.
