NATO Support Agency expands procurement capabilities
The NATO Support Agency has expanded its procurement capabilities and been renamed as the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) on 1 April 2015.
The expanded capabilities include all aspects of systems procurement, from initial acquisition to sustainment. The new mission of the agency is to provide acquisition support and services, including for armaments procurement, logistics, operational and systems for the NATO military authorities, allies and partner nations.
The NSPA brings together logistics and acquisition capabilities for NATO allies and partners under one agency, including acquisition and through-life support as well as system disposal and operational logistics support.
The agency offers a full range of design, acquisition, logistics and procurement support services for weapon systems across five capability areas: systems procurement and life cycle management, support to operations and exercises, strategic transport and storage, logistics services and project management, and fuel management.
Reorganisation of support activity will take place over the coming months, and the agency is prepared to enter new acquisition programmes.
