T-X falls to Boeing

The winner of the long-awaited T-X Advanced Pilot Training (APT) programme is Boeing. Along with partner, Saab, the company will deliver 351 aircraft and a ground based training system (GBTS) under the terms of this potential $9.2 billion programme.

The initial $813 million contract is for the engineering and manufacturing development of the first five aircraft and seven flight simulators.

Viewed by many as the favourites with its clean sheet design, Boeing beat rival bids from Lockheed Martin and Leonardo DRS.
