Raytheon to offer USAF training solution
Raytheon is offering a next-generation training solution for the US Air Force's (USAF) advanced pilot training competition, it announced on 22 February.
Raytheon will serve as prime contractor, while Honeywell Aerospace, CAE USA and Finmeccanica will be the principal partners.
The training solution will combine the T-100 aircraft from Finmeccanica with a ground-based training system from CAE USA. Honeywell Aerospace’s twin F124 turbofan engines will power the T-100, which is based on the Aermacchi M-346 transonic trainer aircraft. Honeywell will supply the engine through the International Turbine Engine Company joint venture.
Rick Yuse, president, space and airborne systems, Raytheon, said: ‘Our affordable, low risk, open systems solution combines a proven aircraft with a suite of fully integrated training technologies.’
Filippo Bagnato, managing director, aircraft division, Finmeccanica, said: ‘The T-100 offers dynamic kinetic performance, while also delivering an embedded, tactical training system that immerses pilots in realistic mission scenarios.’
