Quantum3D receives L-3 contract
Quantum3D Government Systems has received a contract from the Link Simulation and Training division of L3 Technologies to deliver equipment in support of an upgrade project of a US Air Force flight crew training system. The company announced the award on 18 April.
Quantum3D will deliver its MANTIS image generation software, GeoScapeSE world-wide synthetic environment, a CatalystSE digital content creation system, and a variety of programme and integration services.
The equipment will support training for the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources Replacement of Avionics for Global Operations and Navigation (DRAGON) upgrade for the air force's E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), providing E-3 crew with an efficient, effective, and cybersecure learning environment.
The DRAGON upgrade provides several benefits to the AWACS platform, ensuring compliance with current and future air traffic control requirements, giving the aircraft a better ability to conduct operations in airspace around the world. It replaces ageing analogue equipment with commercially viable digital avionics, and reduces the cockpit crew personnel requirement from four to three by providing automated navigation.
