Qatar boosts Hawk trainer purchase
Qatar intends to increase its purchase of Hawk training aircraft from BAE Systems, the country's defence minister has announced.
Speaking at the Royal United Services Institute on 17 January, Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Attiyah said the country would purchase nine of the advanced jet trainers, a boost from previous plans to acquire six aircraft.
Qatar and BAE Systems firmed up the acquisition of 24 Typhoon fighter jets in December 2017 as part of a £5 billion contract, however talks regarding Hawk aircraft sales were ongoing.
