A rocky road ahead for Canada's future aircrew trainer
Since starting discussions with industry in 2013 concerning its Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) requirement, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) has now selected five companies as potential primes for the programme.
These companies are: Airbus Defence & Space, Babcock Canada, Leonardo Canada, Lockheed Martin Canada and SkyAlyne, a partnership between KF Aerospace and CAE. The initial selection included BAE Systems however the company withdrew its bid on 2 April 2019.
FAcT is designed to provide delivery of fixed- and rotary-wing pilot training, as well as aircrew training for air combat systems officers and airborne electronic sensor operators.
