Leonardo and Paramount Group have teamed to develop an operational weaponised configuration of the M-345 jet trainer for the African defence market.
The M-345 is a basic/advanced trainer with multirole capabilities and costs comparable to a turboprop aircraft. According to Leonardo, these characteristics make the M-345 a good fit for the African market.
The aircraft has been designed to reduce training times and enable trainees to leverage a platform with higher performance flight characteristics than basic/advanced training aircraft.
The M-345 cockpit architecture is designed to be the same as the frontline fighters for training purposes. The aircraft can also perform operational roles, with an extended flight envelope, high-speed manoeuvring capability even at high altitudes, modern avionics systems, high load capacity and performance.

The company will operate in two new locations in the coming years to better support US services.
This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
