India orders nine APUs for Il-76
Technodinamika will supply nine auxiliary power units (APUs) for the Ilyushin-76 (Il-76) strategic airlifter used by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in an agreement announced by parent company Rostec on 9 March.
The tender, which is for an undisclosed amount, includes the supply and modification of the APUs for installation in the Il-76.
The agreement follows assessment of the overhauled APUs by the IAF in an open tender competition. The company expects this agreement will transition into a long-term contract to supply the units for the air force's 28-strong Il-76 fleet.
Maxim Kuzyuk, CEO, Technodinamika, said: 'In the very near future, we are going to open a service center in India. It will be arranged in compliance with the principles of the Make in India programme, under which aircraft repair and maintenance will be localised in India. In this case, the IAF will be assured guaranteed deadlines and a high quality of performed works.'
