Finmeccanica has commenced the final assembly phase for the first two Aermacchi M-346 military twin-engine trainer aircraft that are to be delivered to the Polish Air Force, the company announced on 24 February.
Built at Finmeccanica’s aircraft division facility in Varese, Italy, the two M-346s are scheduled to be delivered to the air force by the end of November 2016.
The Polish Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Finmeccanica in February 2014 for the supply of eight M-346 advanced jet trainer aircraft to replace the TS-11 Iskra aircraft currently in operation.
The contract includes a training programme for pilots and engineers; logistic support; a ground-based training system with dedicated classrooms and educational materials, including a full mission simulator. The simulator can replicate any possible operational scenario and can be networked with real aircraft flying training missions.

The company will operate in two new locations in the coming years to better support US services.
This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
