Esterline wins simulator maintenance contract
Thales has awarded a three-year contract to Esterline Simulation Visual Systems to maintain the visual display system on six of the French Navy's ship bridge simulators, Esterline announced on 17 May.
Of the six simulators covered under the contract, four are at the French Naval Academy, Lanvéoc. The French naval bases on Brest and Toulon have one bridge simulator each.
Five of them feature a front-protected, ten-channel Esterline Treality visual display system. The contract will also see Esterline upgrade the visual display systems of two simulators among the six.
Treality visual display systems are used in air traffic, maritime, flight, ground warfare and firearms simulators, and for simulation visualisation applications. They are supported by installation, design project management, maintenance and integration services.
Mark Saturno, vice president of worldwide sales at Esterline Simulation Visual Systems, said: 'We are very pleased to support Thales and the French Navy with this maintenance programme. Our Treality visual display systems are deployed around the globe for a variety of high-performance maritime, air and ground applications.'
