Ethiopian Air Force opens L-39 sim centre
Considered by many as one of the best trained and equipped air forces in Africa, the Ethiopian Air Force (EAF) has just opened a new training centre for its Aero Vodochody L-39 trainer aircraft at Bishoftu, formerly known as Debre Zeyit.
Initially operating a fleet of 24 L-39s, Shephard understands that this fleet is now comprised of around 12 aircraft with the attrition mainly due to accidents and pilot defections.
Since 2016, aircraft maintenance and the supply of spare has been undertaken by Lithuanian MRO specialists, FL Technics Defence.
