Boeing to improve LCT simulators
Boeing is to integrate, test, upgrade and field functional hardware and software improvements and cybersecurity controls for its Longbow Crew Trainer (LCT) Generation Four and Generation Five fleets.
Work on a $10.58 million contract modification from US Army Contracting Command is due for completion by 2 April 2022.
The LCT is a full-mission, high-fidelity flight simulator that provides training capabilities for AH-64D Apache Longbow crews and maintenance test pilots. It is containerised and deployable to support Apache aircrews worldwide.
The latest LCTs are reconfigurable to provide training for both the AH-64D and AH-64E (Apache Guardian) and provide trainees with the ability to perform advanced UAV control tasks. LCT is the only high-fidelity flight simulator accredited for training Apache aircrews.
More than 30 Apache LCTs have been sold to the US Army and more than 40 have been delivered to customers worldwide, according to Shephard Defence Insight.
