Iraqi NCOs graduate from TG Taji
Australia and New Zealand’s Task Group Taji (TG Taji) military complex has trained another 230 Iraqi soldiers through the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) academy, the Australia Department of Defence announced on 25 November.
This graduation brings the total number of NCOs trained under the programme to 430.
The training includes advanced medical instruction, weapons drills, marksmanship, navigation, leadership and small-group tactics.
Regular Iraqi Army elements continue to receive training at TG Taji under the US-led international Building Partner Capacity (BPC) mission in Iraq.
Major General Stuart Smith, Acting Chief of Joint Operations, Australia, said: 'This academy builds the capacity of the Iraqi Army because it produces physically fit, disciplined, and confident soldiers to lead infantry squads on the battle field.'
