Naval strategy specifics in short supply
Any expectations of insight into key UK naval procurements and strategies were left unanswered on 26 January as the Ministry of Defence gave its reactions to a Defence Select Committee report into the state of UK shipbuilding and the Royal Navy.
In November last year the committee was moved to ask the government for a reaction to Sir John Parker’s report calling for a National Shipbuilding Strategy that would see multiple shipyards around the country contributing to the national naval programme.
At present shipbuilding is focused around the new OPVs, aircraft carriers and SSN attack submarines for the Royal
