Worldwide disruption continues as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the global response imposing many changes to normal routines and activity. For armed forces the coronavirus has presented an opportunity to support government relief efforts, as well as constituting a challenge to their routine operations.

The USN, in particular, has been hard hit by the pandemic, as the service found itself at the centre of an unwanted political storm after COVID-19 struck the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. After an initial outbreak onboard quickly began to spiral out of control, the ship put into the US territory
