Bulk buy of BK-16 looms for Russia
The Russian Navy and Coast Guard are expected to acquire modern high-speed patrol craft in 2021, with a focus on BK-16 craft.
While no formal contract has been announced, Shephard understands there is an overall requirement for ten to 15 vessels at a potential cost of RUB9.7 billion to RUB13.4 billion ($130 million-$180 million).
The first BK-16 boat, manufactured under Project 02510 by Kalashnikov JSC subsidiary Rybinsk Shipyard, was handed over to the Russian Baltic Fleet in November 2020.
It is designed for assault and patrol operations in the littoral zone, as well personnel transport, special operations and SAR
