General Dynamics to assist with USS Harry S Truman modernisation
General Dynamics has been awarded a $17.69 million contract modification for FY2020 extended continuous incremental availability (ECIA) for the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman (pictured).
The ECIA will include the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations and modifications which will seek to improve the vessel’s military and technical capabilities. It will include 117 total work items.
Work is expected to be completed by January 2021 with $17.69 million of funding expiring at the end of FY2020.
USS Harry S Truman will undergo non-nuclear propulsion plant repairs in Hampton Roads, Virginia whilst nuclear propulsion plant work will be carried out in cooperation with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
On 1 June, Huntington Ingalls Industries confirmed that it had also secured a $17.17 million contract to perform maintenance and modernisation work on the aircraft carrier.
