GDA 2017: New leadership could provide Kuwait naval boost

Kuwait’s much needed naval procurement plans could be given a shot in the arm following the appointment of a new minister of defence in the small gulf country.

The Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Sabah, chose his eldest son, Sheikh Nasser Al Sabah, to be the new incumbent, which formed a key talking point at Gulf Defense and Aerospace, taking place on the outskirts of Kuwait City.

European shipbuilders gathered at the event to stake their case for several potentially lucrative naval procurement programmes for the Kuwait Naval Force.
