Turkey orders new amphibious vehicle
A step towards the production of a new amphibious vehicle for the Turkish marines has been taken that could offer the service new capabilities.
Turkey’s procurement organisation SSM has awarded domestic armoured vehicle manufacturer, FNSS, a contract for the design and production of a tracked armoured amphibious assault vehicle for the Turkish Naval Forces Command (TNFC)
Awarded on 7 March, the contract is part of the Zirhli Amfibi Hücum Araci (ZAHA) programme that aims to see the domestic acquisition of an expeditionary vehicle to lift naval infantry troops and equipment from ship, to shore, to objective, in rough seas
