Thales thermal cameras for Indian T90s
Thales has been awarded a contract from Beltech to provide its Catherine thermal imaging cameras for installation in Indian T90 main battle tanks (MBTs), it announced in May.
The contract will see Thales transfer production to integrate 260 Catherine compact Long Wave InfraRed (LWIR) cameras into the TI Sights from Beltech, to be installed on the T90 MBTs of the Indian Army.
The Catherine family of thermal cameras is suited for weapon engagements and target acquisition by land vehicles. Thermal cameras enable commanders, land recce observers and gunners to see in adverse and day/night conditions. The Indian Army already uses the Catherine thermal imager.
The transfer of production of the thermal imager contributes to the Indian government's Make in India policy.
