Russia boosts artillery procurement
Russian Land Forces are boosting their overall front line combat capabilities by increasing its self-propelled howitzer (SPH) inventory.
It is doing this by taking delivery of a new system – the 2S35 Koalitsia-SV SPH and by placing additional orders for the legacy Msta-S SPH.
The first production-standard Koalitsia-SVs systems are being delivered to the artillery units of the 1st Tank Army stationed near Moscow, subordinated to Russia’s Western Military District. The Russian MoD has stated that the initial batch of Koalitsia-SVs will comprise 10 units, with deliveries to be completed by end of November for use in field trials.
