Raytheon proves Ai3 for indirect fire programme
Raytheon is pushing its Accelerated Improved Intercept Initiative (Ai3) missile for the US Army Indirect Fire Protection Capability, Increment 2 – Intercept (IFPC 2-i) programme.
The company announced at the end of August that during the Black Dart demonstrations held by the US Army from 29 July-11 August, the Ai3 intercepted a cruise missile for the first time as well as an unmanned aerial system (UAS).
David Brockway, capture director for advanced land warfare at Raytheon Missile Systems, told Shephard: ‘During the 5-6 August event at Pt Mugu NAS two semi-active AI3 interceptors were fired.
