Portuguese Army trains with new Benelli Supernova shotguns
The Portuguese Army has made progress in its Soldier Combat Systems (SCS) programme by training with new Benelli Supernova pump-action shotguns in early November at the Arms School (Escola das Armas), in Mafra.
Training was conducted by the supplier of the weapons, Benelli Defense. It comprised safety procedures, the disassembly and assembly process, maintenance and shooting techniques.
A total of 380 Benelli Supernova shotguns were delivered in two batches, the last of which arrived in October. The guns will be used by Portuguese Army manoeuvre units for operations in confined spaces, as a less lethal anti-riot option and against small UAVs.
