Malaysia fires up new French howitzers
The Malaysian Army conducted firing exercises with its newly acquired Nexter LG1 105mm pack howitzers during Exercise Shelldrake Para 1/2021 from 22-25 February.
The exercise assessed the competency of gun crews, and prepared 1 Royal Artillery Regiment (Para) for brigade-level exercises scheduled for later this year. All 18 guns acquired have been assigned to this artillery support component of 10 Para Brigade.
With 1 Royal Artillery Regiment (Para) transitioning to the LG1s, the regiment’s 18 Model 56 105mm pack howitzers are expected to be transferred as initial equipment for three artillery regiments that the Malaysian Army plans to form
