FY2021 US Army budget request emphasises lethality
The US Army and the USMC are likely to receive around 4,500 vehicles in 2021, the US DoD announced on 10 February during a press briefing on the FY2021 defence budget proposal.
The DoD earmarked $13 billion for the land domain, including $1.4 billion for 4,247 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs). Modifications and upgrades to 89 M1 Abrams tanks will require $1.5 billion; the budget request also includes $521 million for 72 Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs) and $290 million for 32 Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicles (AMPVs).
