Eurosatory 2010: Fifth generation Piranha unveiled
General Dynamics European Land Systems has unveiled the Piranha Class 5, the latest generation of the highly successful Piranha combat vehicle family at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris.
The Class 5 offers significantly improved payload, internal volume, survivability and mobility compared to early generation vehicles – characteristics company officials believe make the vehicle ideally suited for operations across the full spectrum of conflict.
The demonstrator on display is configured as an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) that carries a crew of three driver, commander and gunner and a dismount squad of eight soldiers.
It is equipped with the new Kongsberg Medium
