ADEX 2015: Chunmoo MLRS in Korean service
Featuring at the Seoul ADEX show is an in-service example of the Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system (MLRS).
Shephard understands the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) will receive 58 units of the vehicle, which is sometimes also designated K-MLRS, under an initial contract.
Hanwha is prime contractor, system integrator and manufacturer of the rockets, while the launcher units are produced by Doosan DST.
Deployment of the Chunmoo to frontline ROKA units began in the second half of 2015. Additionally, South Korea’s northwest islands near the border will be among the recipients next year, where the K-MLRS will support K9 howitzers
