China sets terms for Somali vehicle donation
New Tiger 4x4 vehicles delivered to the Somali National Army (SNA) are part of a sweetener deal from China that will increase Beijing’s influence.
A defence source in Mogadishu, Somalia, told Shephard that an initial instalment of 32 light armoured vehicles will be followed by a further 18 to make a total of 50 units.
The source said that the vehicles have been provided as a gift from China but that it also includes a considerable cash donation thought to be worth millions of dollars.
