Belarus upgrades armour
The Belarus military has given the go-ahead for two programmes to upgrade the Land Forces armour inventory.
It will be undertaken by domestic companies, which will work on the BTR-70 APC and the T-72 tank as part of an ongoing re-capitalisation effort.
The 1980s vintage BTR has been upgraded to the BTR-70BM1 standard with the first batch reported to have been handed over to the Land Forces in January 2017. Belarus’s State Military-Industrial Committee, however, did not release the number of upgraded APC delivered or the total size of the order.
