AUSA Winter: Colt awaits USMC hand gun decision
Colt’s 1911 rail gun, designated the M45A1 Marine Pistol, is currently being assessed by a unit within the USMC with the company hopeful for more orders, it has emerged.
Speaking to Shephard at the AUSA Winter 2014 exhibition in Huntsville, Alabama, a spokesman from Colt said that an initial instalment of the enhanced .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) had been delivered to the USMC and that ‘the feedback has been very good’.
The weapons were delivered already fitted with MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails, allowing the handgun to mount accessories such as laser designators and torches.
