Italian Navy readies for next-generation vessels

Leonardo is set to supply parts of its combat suite offering to the Italian Navy (IN), as the service prepares to accept new vessels under its Legge Navale (Naval Law) next-generation ship project.

The IN is currently in the midst of acquiring a new fleet of seven Offshore Multipurpose Patrol Ships (PPA), one Logistics Support Ship (LSS) and one Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD). These will all be equipped with various combinations of Leonardo combat system suite including X, C and L Band radars and C4I advanced capabilities (Combat Management Systems and Communication Systems).
